Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Pair of Blue and White Spongeware Cornucopia Vases attribute to Dan Mercer of Parkersburg, WV.  I purchased these in Marietta, Ohio years ago.

Dan Mercer (1867-1951) was a potter born in Greensboro, PA, worked for the Donaghho Pottery in Parkersburg, WV (1870-1907), and made pottery on his own after it closed (Jim Stage and Mark Suek, Excelsior and Beyond: A History of Parkersburg Area Potteries, pp. 43-45; and information from the Mercer family).

This Pair are Molded to be Cornucopia Mounted on Bases Facing Upward to be Vases and Decorated with about the Richest Cobalt that Can Possibly be Made.  Gorgeous.  The bases measure 6 1/2" long and 3 1/2" wide, and they are a total of 6 3/4" tall, with the vase portion being 7" wide.

Exceptional Condition.  One is as made.  No damage of any kind.  The other has a minor 3/8" sliver chip on one corner (closeup).  Otherwise as made.
