Item 1328
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Spongeware Pitcher.
This pitcher comes from one of the collections photographed by Kathryn McNerney for her Blue and White Stoneware book. I bought it out of a log cabin home in western Kentucky years ago. It had been purchased in Nashville in the 1970's at one of the fleamarkets there.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features a Bulbous Form with Gently Drooping Spout and Cobalt Blue Sponging. Not a commonly seen form of spongeware pitchers. Stands 5 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. An 1/8" glaze nibble on the left side of the handle and a narrow 1/4" chip on the base. That's it! No rim or spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
