Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Red Earthenware Bird Whistle attributed to Halifax, Yorkshire, England.
Dating to the Early 19th Century, this beauty features a Bird on a Conical Base Decorated with Scattered Boar Heads which was a Custom of the Day. Straited cream and manganese slip glaze. The whistle sounds like the cooing of a pigeon. Stands 9" tall.
Excellent Condition. Glaze loss to the tip of the beak and tail feathers and along the edges of the decoration in places. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
