Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 1 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Jar made for "M. Reider & Son, Groceries & Queensware, Main Street, Butler, PA." 
 
Butler is a small town north of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.   The jar was likely made in Greensboro or New Geneva, Pennsylvania south of Washington, Pennsylvania.
 
Circa 1880, this beauty features 5 Lines of Stenciled Advertising.  Stands 10" tall. 
 
Excellent Condition.  Two small chips inside the rim (1/4", 3/8").  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
