Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Decorated Stoneware 8 3/4" Jar.
The form and decoration indicate that it was made by Henry Remmey, Jr. of Philadelphia who ran the family pottery in Philadelphia from the 1820's to the 1850's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 8-10).
Circa 1840, this beauty features a Squared Rim, Grooved Shoulder, Warm Gray Glaze, and Brushed Cobalt Floral Decoration. The florals consist of two tulips with leaves and blossom, and one leaf. Stands 8 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A tiny 1/8" nibble and surface ping line at the rim (closeup). That's it! No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
