Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon Merchant Jug made and stamped for "Josiah Newman, 112 Front Street, Rochester, N.Y."
The decoration indicates that the jug was made by the Burger Pottery of Rochester, circa 1880.
This beauty features the Rochester Merchant Advertising with Cobalt Wash and a Burger Wreath Decoration Encompassing the Capacity Number. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Minor nibbles inside the spout, and ping to the left of the decoration (closeup 1), a faint short diagonal line at the base of the handle that does not go all the way across (closeup 2),and a minor narrow 3/4" chip on the underside at the edge. No outer spout chips, body hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
