Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "John Burger, Rochester." 
 
This is the mark of John Burger who founded the family's pottery under this stamp and ran it from 1854-1867 (William Ketchum, American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, a Freehand Capacity Number "3", and a Tulip Executed with a Slip Cup in Strong Shiny Cobalt.  Three leaves on a stemp support a full blossom with 5 petals.  Stands 16" tall.  
 
Excellent Condition.  Three flat chips on top of the spout (1/4" to 3/4"), a U-shaped line on the back near the bottom, and a couple small stains on the left side.  No base chips, cracks, or restoration.
