Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped by "J. S. Taft & Company, Keene, N.H."

 

This is the mark of James Scholly Taft and his uncle, James Burnap who sold pottery under this stamp from 1871-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 39).

 

This beauty sports a Large Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Brushed Cobalt Bird on a Branch Decoration.  Stands 17 1/4" tall.

 

Very Good Condition. A 2 1/2" line from below the spout above the pottery stamp that may or may not be in the making (closeup).  Otherwise, no chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. A hot spot on the bottom of each side in the making. 

 

Ships double-boxed, insured, and FREE

 

Very Good Condition.  Water glass staining inside and some traces outside, and some exfoliation on the underside.  No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
