Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Evan R. Jones, Pittston, Pa."
Jones potted in Pittston in the 1870's and 1880's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 34-37).
This beauty features a Semi-Squared Rim, Tooled Shoulder Banding, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accents at the Terminals, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird on a Branch Decoration. This is very fine example of an uncommon decoration for Jones. Measures 10 1/4" tall and 11" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. An 1 1/4" chip inside the rim behind the front where it does not show for display, and some extremely light, scatteresd stains. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Slight slump on the rim in the back in the making.
