Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "T. Harrington, Lyons."
This is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Two Freehand "2" Capacity Numbers, and a Pair of Brushed Cobalt Tulips Splayed Across the Front. Bright and shiny cobalt as was typical of Lyons stoneware. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Good Condition. A series of small chips around the inner seating ring and rim. Five chips (1/4" to 3/4") and two faint 1" hairlines outside the rim. Two chips at the base (1/2", 3/4"), and some isolated stains. No restoration.
