Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 10" Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "J. E. Eneix, New Geneva, PA. "
This is the mark of James Eneix who made stoneware in New Geneva for the brief period of 1874-1876 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 165). Eneix stoneware is not commonly seen due to its brief period of manufacture.
This beauty features the Wax Sealer Form, Canted Sides, and the Company Advertising Hugging a Sheaf of Wheat. All the decoration is complete and executed in bold and dark cobalt blue. Stands 10" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 3/8" chip inside the rim and three adjacent chips along the bottom edge on the right side (1/4" to 1") (closeup). No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
