Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Stoneware 1/2 Gallon Wax Sealer Canning Jar made by "Excelsior Works, Isaac Hewitt, Rices Landing, PA"
 
Hewitt ran his pottery in Rices Landing, PA in the 1860's and 1870's (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 158-59). 
 
This beauty features a Tooled Wax Sealer Grooved Rim, and the Company Advertising Stenciled in Three Lines of Bright Cobalt.  Stands 8 1/4" tall. 
 
Excellent Condition.  A 3/4" chip on the inner rim, and minor nibbles inside the outer rim.  No outside rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
