Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Uncommon Little 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Jug made by "Hamilton and Jones, Greensboro, PA."
This is the work of Frank Hamilton and John Jones who worked in Greensboro, Pennsylvania from 1865 to 1897 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 154-157).
Circa 1880, this beauty features an uncommon 1/2 Gallon Size, and the Company Advertising Wrapped in Vining in a Paisley Shape. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" chip on right side of the handle and some surface-only craze lines on the right side bottom and back. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Typical manufacturing imperfections.
