Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Franklin Norton and Frederick Hancock during the period of 1858 to 1876 ("The F. B. Norton Pottery: Stoneware of Every Description." Worcester Historical Museum, 1980-1981).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Bright Brushed Cobalt Stylized Swirl Floral. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this crock exhibits. It really pops! Measures 10 1/2" tall and 11 1/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. Six chips inside the rim (1/4" to 1"), and some light staining at the bottom. No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. No narrow chips on the underside at the edge in the making (1 1/4", 2 1/2").
