Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "F. B. Norton & Co., Worcester, Mass."
This is the mark of Franklin Norton and Frederick Hancock who operated the pottery in Worcester using this stamp from 1858-1876 ("The F. B. Norton Pottery: Stoneware of Every Description." Worcester Historical Museum, 1980-1981).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Large and Bright Dotted Floral that Fills the Front with Cobalt. This was one of Norton's signature decorations and is typically found with gorgeous cobalt like this crock exhibits. Measures 9 1/4" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A few scattered light stains, two minor chips inside the rim (1/8", 1/4"), a 1/4" chip on the left handle, and a 1/2" chip and wear on the front of the right handle. No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
