Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Crock made and stenciled by the pottery of "E. S. & B., New Brighton, PA."
This is the work of Elverson, Sherwood, and Barker of New Brighton, Pennsylvania. This company was in business from 1881-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners. pp. 140-142).
Dating to the 1880's, this beauty features a Bristol Glaze, the "4" Capacity Number Flanked by Leaves, and the Company Advertising. All the stenciling is complete and dressed in dark cobalt. Stands 15" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 2" surface craze line on the back, a 1/2" chip on the bottom edge, and spots of very light staining, That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
