Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Dated Cream Pot.
The decoration indicates that it was made by Asa Smith of Norwalk, Connecticut who ran his pottery during the period of 1825 to 1843 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58-60).
This beauty features the Ovoid Form, Draped Decoration Framing the Capacity Number at the Shoulder, a Tulip Traversing the Middle with a Leaf to its Right, and the 1840 Date. Stands 10" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. Small kiln touch on the tip of the center leaf and out of round in the making.
