Item 13140
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Spectacular 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug from Southwestern Pennsylvania.
The florals with the criss-crossed center petals are typically from the Beaver, PA region.
Circa 1865, this jug sports a Very Tall and Slender Form that I believe to be a mismarked 3 Gallon, and a Huge Brushed Cobalt Vine that Fills the Front from Side to Side, Top to Bottom. The vining is executed in dark and shiny cobalt on a very gray almost bisque glaze. Measures a whopping 16 1/2" tall.
A unique jug the likes of which I don't recall ever seeing.
Excellent Condition. A C-shaped lifted surface to the right of the capacity number as shown. That's it! No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
