Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this scrumptious 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Burger & Lang, Rochester, N.Y."

 

This is the mark of John Burger, Jr., George Burger, and their brother-in-law, George Lang who ran the family's pottery under this stamp from 1867 to 1877 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).

 

This beauty sports a Tall Semi-Ovoid Form, Oval Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number, and a Cobalt "Strawberry" Executed with a Slip Cup. The berry is formed with 20 continuous loops of cobalt!  Stands 13 3/4"

 

Excellent Condition. A flat 3/8" flake on the spout, glaze wear near the bottom, and a 1" surface ping on the bottom edge (closeup).  That's it!  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
