    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Stoneware Butter Crock in the Butterfly Pattern.  

     

    This crock is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encylopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 108.  

     

    Dating around 1920, this beauty features an Orange Peel Background that Hosts Four Butterflies.  The decoration is framed at the top and bottom by a blue band.  Strong mold lines and diffused coloration.  Measures 4" tall and 6 1/4" wide.  

     

    Very Good.  Two adjacent 1" chips- one on the bottom edge and one on the underside at the edge (closeup).  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
