Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped for the merchant, "C. Rotton, 301 Atlantic Ave., Brooklyn.
The decoration indicates that the jar was made by Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. who partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).
This beauty features the Merchant Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Floral that Fills the Front. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. A few thin water glass rings inside and a 1/2" chip on the underside. That's it! No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, outer stains, or restoration. The chip on the left front is in the making and glazed over.
