Coming to you from Doc's Crock is this Rare 1 Gallon Spongeware Pitcher sometimes called the "Russian Milk Pitcher."
It is pictured in Kathryn McNerney, Blue & White Stoneware, p. 147 as shown above.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features a Short Straight Rim, Pinched Spout, Sloped Shoulder, Straight Sides, and Blue Sponging. Stands 8 1/4".
Very Good Condition. Minor 1/8" nibbles inside the rim on the left side (closeup 1). No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A 1" vertical firing line on the outside of the spout in the making as shown. Does not show inside and glazed over (closeup 2).
