Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Blue and White Spongeware Covered Soap Dish.
Dating to the late 19th century, this beauty features a Base with Three Blue Stripes around the Middle and Rich Cobalt Sponging, as well as a Lid with the Same Stripes and a Pinwheel Pattern Around the Knob. The lid has more sponging than the base, so not an exact match. Measures 6 1/2" wide and 3" tall.
Excellent Condition. The base is as made. The lid has two minor nibbles on the seating ring (1/8", 1/4"). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid also has an 1/8" clay void on the knob and a 1 1/2" chip in the seating ring with smooth edges and partial glazed edge that are both in the making.
