Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Blue and White Spongeware Pitcher in the Grape Cluster on Basketweave Pattern.
Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty features a Tight Basketweave Pattern from which Clusters of Grapes Hang, with a Rickrack Border Top and Bottom. Blue and white sponging. Stands 7 7/8" tall.
This is a rare pattern and in sponge is even rarer. You will find a fine discussion of this pattern in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 43.
