Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar made by "A. Conrad, New Geneva."
Alexander Conrad ran the pottery in New Geneva, Pennsylvania from 1870-1882 before moving to Shinnston, WV (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 164-65).
Dating to the 1870's, this beauty features a Top Stripe and the Company Advertising in Bold Cobalt Letters Accented by Dots Framed by Triangles. The warm gray glaze and the dark cobalt lettering create a very pleasing contrast. Stands 10 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. Either light staining on the back or mottling in the glaze in the making. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
