Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 6 Gallon Barrel Water Cooler stamped "Charlestown."
This the is work of Edward and Thomas Edmands who ran the pottery in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1852-1868 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 49).
This beauty features a Larger Size, Barrel Form with 10 Embossed Cobalt Hoops, Pottery Stamp, and Two Birds in Flight Eating Berries from a Bush! The cobalt is bold, bright, and shiny on a creamy glaze for a truly stunning contrast. Stands 16 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 1/2" chip on the inner rim, two 1/2" chips on the outer rim, a 6" vertical hairline on the right side (closeup), a 3/4" chip under the spigot hole, and a Y-shaped surface line on the underside. No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration. A colored 1" stone ping on the rim in the front in the making.
