Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Pair of Pennsylvania and West Virgina Stoneware Jars.
First is a jar stenciled "Superior" in a Dotted Banner This 1 gallon jar was made by Donaghho of Parkersburg, West Virginia. This is the work of A. P. Donaghho who ran his pottery in Parkersburg, West Virginia from 1874-1900. Stands 9 1/2" tall. As made with mottled glaze.
The second is a wax sealer stenciled "Williams and Reppert, Greensboro, PA." This is the work of William Williams and Thomas Reppert who worked together from 1880-1884 and again after 1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp 157-58). Stands 10" tall. Significant chipping inside the rim and a 1" chip on the back center. Otherwise, as made.
