Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made for the Grocer "W. T. Moore, Middlebury, Summit Co., Ohio."
W. T. Moore was a successful grocer and merchant in Middlebury in the 1850's and had 2 and 3 gallon crocks made for his business with his name on them. He disappears from records after 1860 (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 48-49).
This beauty features the Company Advertising on the Top Washed in Cobalt, a Freehand Capacity Number "2", and an Elaborate Brushed Cobalt Tulip with Seven Leaves and a Blossom with Four Petals-- all in gorgeous cobalt! Measures 9 1/2" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top.
