Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this uncommon and lovely 1 Gallon Stoneware Wax Sealer Canning Jar from Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Circa 1880 and probably hailing from Greensboro, PA, this beauty features a Wax Sealer Form with Tooled Grooved Rim for Wax, Tapered Sides, and Two Top and One Bottom Stripe Framing Two Fancy Emblems in Mirror Image of Each Other. Complete stencils. Stands 10" tall.
Excellent Condition. Three small chips on the inner rim (1/8" to 1/4"). That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Slight hot spot on the back and a 3" surface drying/firing line on the bottom in the making.
