Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Jar attributed to New Brighton, Pennsylvania.
This jar is likely the work of Elverson, Sherwood, and Barker of New Brighton. This company was in business from 1881-1890 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 140-142).
Dating to the 1880's, this beauty features Salt Glaze, an Unusual Protruding Handle, and a Freehand "1 1/2" Capacity Number with Underscore. Comes with a fitting lid. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some water glass staining inside near the top and traces outside. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A couple 3/8" chips on the side of the lid.
