Item 1122
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "WM. E. Warner, Manufactory, West Troy."
This is the mark of William E. Warner who ran a pottery in West Troy, N.Y. in the 1840's and 1850's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 67-68).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Capacity Number with Cobalt Wash, and a Freehand Brushed Double Leaf that Cradles Them. Handsome early piece. Stands 13" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/4" glaze rub on the right leaf, and some light overall staining from use. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. The spout leans ever so slightly to the left and there is a small clay void on the back bottom--both in the making.
