Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by the "Ottman Bro's & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the stamp of William and Gilbert Ottman who ran the company from 1872-1892 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 68).
This beauty sports a clear pottery stamp with cobalt wash, and a Large Freehand Cobalt Bird on a Stump in Bright Cobalt. Meaures 11" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Two chips inside (1/4", 5/8") and a 3/4" chip outside of the rim, three glaze chips on the right handle (1/4" to 1/2"), and water glass staining inside and a bit outside in the back. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A 1 1/2" glazed drying line at the back at the bottom in the making.
