Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar made for "Wm Haslage & Co., Grocers and Tea Dealers, No 18 Diamond, Pitts."
Circa 1880, this jar was made in SW Pennsylvania, probably at Greensboro.
This beauty features Top to Bottom Decoration. From the top down, A straight stripe frames the rim, a wavy strip and freehand adorn the shoulder, the company advertising occupies the middle, and the freehand capacity number flanked by dashes and underscored by a stripe complete the decoration at the bottom. Stands 11 3/4" tall.
The reference to "Tea Dealers" adds extra interest.
Excellent Condition. A couple small, light stains. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
A very nice piece of Pittsburgh stoneware and business history.
