Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "WM. E. Warner, est Troy."
This is the mark of William E. Warner who ran a pottery in West Troy, N.Y. in the 1840's and 1850's (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 67-68).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and Capacity Number with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Freehand Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip has two leaves and a blossom with six petals. Gorgeous Cobalt- Bright and Shiny! Handsome early piece. Stands 14 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A silver dollar sized stain near the bottom, and some old molasses in the bottom. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
