Item 5050
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar Double-Stamped stamped "Lyons."
The shape and decoration make it most likely that this is the work of Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp 73-74).
This beauty features a Preserve Jar Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number "2", and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip with Two Leaves and a Blossom with 5 Petals. The floral has a most pleasing bold and shiny cobalt! Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Some small chips around the inner rim where a lid would sit, and a 1"hairline on the front bottom that wraps under as a faint meandering line. No outer rim chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
