Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Ovoid Crock made and stamped by "Wm. E. Warner, West Troy Manufactory."
This is the mark of William E. Warner who ran a pottery in West Troy, N.Y., using this impression from 1836 to 1839 (private research).
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Form, Tall Rim with Inscribed Shoulder, Impressed Capacity Number and a Freehand Left-Reaching Tulip with Two Leave and a Blossom. All the cobalt is bright and shiny. Measures 12 3/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. A flat 1/4" flake inside the rim, a faint 1 1/2" hairline from the rim by the right handle (closeup). and a narrow 1/2" chip under the right handle. No damage outer rim or base chips, stains, or restoration. Very clean glaze.
