Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "W. A. Macquoid & Co., Pottery Works, Little West 12th St., N.Y."
This is the work of William A. MacQuoid who ran his pottery in Manhattan from 1863-1879. Macquoid created some of the most folky decorations in American stoneware history like this one here (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 63).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Triple Floral with Three Kinds of Blossoms! Must be a new hybrid! Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two minor 1/8" chips on the inner rim where a lid sat and one inside the top rim, and a 1 1/2" hairline above the right handle that stops inside at the lid seating ring (closeup). No outer rim or base chips, stains, or restoration.
