Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Crock with Floral made and stamped by "Whites Utica."

 

This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70.

 

Circa 1880, this beauty features a Deep and Wide Grooved Rim for Ease of Tying a Cloth or Waxed Paper Cover Over the Top, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and an Elaborate Floral drawn with a Slip Cup. Appears to be a butterfly landing on the stem of rose which was one of Whites' signature decorations. Measures 10 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top. 

 

Very Good Condition.  Water glass ring near the top inside and some light traces outside.  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
