Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica, N.Y."

 

This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).

 

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Large Fantail Bird poised on the Branch of an Orchid.  The bird is a full 9" from the tip of his beak to the tip of his tailfeathers.  The orchid features 6 leaves, a blossom, and 6 buds.  Bright and shiny cobalt flowing from a slip cup was used to create this decoration.  Measures 10" tall and 11 1/2" wide across the top. 

 

Very Good Condition.  Two flat chips inside and outside the rim (1/4", 1/2"), and chips under each handle.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
