Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Exquisitely Molded Covered Canister with Embossed Decoration with Original Lid.
It was made by the Whites Pottery of Utica, New York between 1890 and 1907 when Whites made its fabulous molded stoneware. A similar piece can be seen in Christopher Bensch, The Blue and the Gray: Oneida County Stoneware, pp. 25, 26.
This beauty features a Raised Background of Geometric Designs that Host Three Embossed Leaves with Gorgeous Cobalt Overlay. The lid repeats the geometric designs. Measures 4 3/4" tall and 5" wide.
Excellent Condition. The base has a 1/4" chip on the unglazed rim and a 1/2" surface-only line inside. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. The lid has a 1/2" chip on the bottom edge of the overhang. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
