Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this imposing 3 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a mark of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Large Floral with a Stem in 15 Leaves Framed by Vertical Leaves, and Two Blossoms with 6-8 Petals-- All in Thick, Bold, and Shiny Cobalt. Stands 16" tall.
Excellent Condition. Four wafer thin and narrow chips on the underside at the edge (1/4" to 2"), and some occasional small stains from use. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
