Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and one of White's signature decorations: an Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup. The orchid has two leaves with horizontal striping, and a blossom with two petals with vertical striping. Gorgeous! Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 3/8" chip on the left side of the spout by the handle, and a 1" chip on the underside near the edge in the back. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Short vertical surface lines around the spout that are in the making.
