Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."

This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).

This beauty features the pottery stamp and one of White's signature decorations: an Orchid Executed with a Slip Cup. The orchid has two leaves with horizontal striping, and a blossom with two petals with vertical striping.  Gorgeous!  Stands 11 1/4" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A 3/8" chip on the left side of the spout by the handle, and a 1" chip on the underside near the edge in the back.  No hairlines, cracks, stains or restoration.  Eight short vertical surface lines evenly spaced around the spout that appear to be in the making (closeup).
