Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Little 1 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica, N.Y."

 

This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).

 

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and an Orchid Formed with a Slip Cup.  The orchid has four leaves, a blossom and four buds.  This was one of Whites signature decorations. Measures 7 3/4" tall and 9" wide across the top. 

 

Very Good Condition.  Minor nibbles and three 1/4" chips inside the rim, minor nibbles and a 3/8" chip outside the rim, and some scattered light staining.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
