Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Little 1 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "Whites, Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles who ran the Whites of Utica family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 70-71).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Bird with Long Tail Feathers Proudly Poised on a Branch. This was one of Whites signature decorations. This birdie has 7 tailfeathers. Measures 7 1/4" tall and 8 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A narrow 5/8" chip under the left handle and two 3/8" chips under the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
