Item 7101
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites' Utica."
This is the work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family Whites pottery in Utica, N.Y. from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip emerges from stylized ground cover and veers left to form a blossom with 7 petals. Stands 11 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. As made. No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Production flaws in the making: a kiln touch on top of the handle, a 1/4" chip under the spout from impurities in the clay, a kiln touch on the left side, and a lean to the spout.
