Item 6927
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Whites Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the pottery stamp and one of White's signature decorations: a Bird on a Branch with Long Tail Feathers. The decoration is executed with a slip cup with precision and in shiny cobalt. Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. Two 1/8" nibbles on the spout, two small chips at the base (1/4", 1/2"), and some staining from use. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A kiln touch at the top of the tailfeathers in the making.
