Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Jar made and stamped by "White's Utica."
This is a work of Nicholas White and his sons, William and Charles, who ran the family pottery from 1865-1886 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 69-70).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp, Large Running Bird with Fantail on a Branch Decoration, and a Cinnamon Glaze. It has a strong, pleasing visual presence. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. A water glass ring inside, some very, very light water glass staining outside, and a 1/4" chip on the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A tiny kiln touch above the tail and a small stone ping in the tail in the making.
