Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderfully Large 4 Gallon Jug made for the Grocer, "Walker & Co., 27 Haverhill St., Boston, Mass." 
 
The decoration indicates that it was made in Fort Edward, New York around 1880.  
 
This beauty features the Large Size, Company Advertising with Cobalt Wash on the Shoulder, and a Large Bird on a Plum that fills the Front.  The bird is 11" from the tip of his (or her) beak to the tip of the tail.  The plume is more elaborate than most with a striped leaf and dots at the top.  Stands 17 1/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition. Three small chips inside the spout.  That's it!  No outer spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some bubbling in the thicker parts of the cobalt and a 3/8" divot in the bird's wing where a piece of iron melted-- all in the making.
