Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 1/2 Gallon Preserve Jar made and stamped by "W. A. Macquoid & Co., Pottery Works, Little West 12th St., N.Y."
This is the work of William A. MacQuoid who ran his pottery in Manhattan from 1863-1879. Macquoid created some of the most folky decorations in American stoneware history like this one here (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 63).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp and a Double Floral with Two Kinds of Blossoms-- a Tulip and a Daisy! Must be a new hybrid! Stands 10" tall.
Exceptional Condition. As made. No damage of any kind. A 3/8" iron ping on the far left of the floral and two 2" surface firing lines on the bottom of the right side in the making.
