Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "J. A. and C. W. Underwood, Fort Edward, N.Y."
This pair ran the pottery in Fort Edward from 1865 to 1867 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 88).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Folky Chicken Pecking Corn from the Ground. Measures 11 1/2" tall and wide across the top.
Good Condition. A 3/4" chip on the right handle. Three sealed hairlines from the rim: 2 1/2" in front of the right handle (closeup 1), 7" behind the right handle (closeup 2), and 3" on the back (closeup 3). No rim or base chips, cracks, or stains.
